After We Collided by Anna Todd

‘Tessa has everything to lose. Hardin has nothing to lose…except her. AFTER WE COLLIDED…Life will never be the same. #HESSA

After a tumultuous beginning to their relationship, Tessa and Hardin were on the path to making things work. Tessa knew Hardin could be cruel, but when a bombshell revelation is dropped about the origins of their relationship—and Hardin’s mysterious past—Tessa is beside herself.

Hardin will always be…Hardin. But is he really the deep, thoughtful guy Tessa fell madly in love with despite his angry exterior—or has he been a stranger all along? She wishes she could walk away. It’s just not that easy. Not with the memory of passionate nights spent in his arms. His electric touch. His hungry kisses.

Still, Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise. She put so much on hold for Hardin—school, friends, her mom, a relationship with a guy who really loved her, and now possibly even a promising new career. She needs to move forward with her life.

Hardin knows he made a mistake, possibly the biggest one of his life. He’s not going down without a fight. But can he change? Will he change…for love?’

This is the second book in the After series. I have read and reviewed After which you can find here. So if you haven’t read the first book and you want to, I should warn you that there will be spoilers for book one in this review.

I started After never expecting to like it at all. But I came away broken, broken by a fictional character I fell in love with… Hardin. At the end of the last book we was left with the most jaw dropping, heart stopping cliff hanger EVER. After everything Tessa went through with Hardin, it turned out that their whole relationship was based on a bet Hardin and his friends made. But it gets worse… the bet was Hardin could take Tessa’s virginity, but still it gets worse… he KEPT the sheets in which they had sex on and SHOWED his friends the blood. Tessa finds out in the most brutal way and is humiliated and destroyed by Hardin. After everything she went through and us as the reader it was hard to not feel as broken as Tessa, how could he do that to her?

Now onto After We Collided… It starts off exactly were we left off. Not knowing what to do or where to go, Tessa has Zed drive her to Hardin’s dads house. After all she has nowhere else to go after Hardin forcing her to move in with him. There she spills everything to Landon her only alley in the whole world. Of course Hardin turns up and acts in his normal Hardin way, but this time he has destroyed everything between for good. At least we hope so..

The entire book is Tessa forgiving Hardin every time he fucks up, and boy does he! His mum comes to America and he hasn’t yet told her that he and Tessa are over. Tess being the complete melt she is agrees to go along with pretending to be together so his mum doesn’t find out what he did. Only when Tessa’s mother makes an unexpected visit, Hardin’s mum finds out just what her son has been up to and she then warns Tessa to stay very far away from her son. Hinting she isn’t the only girl whose life Hardin has destroyed. Leaving Tessa to wonder what more Hardin could be hiding.

BUT, even though Hardin behaves in the most despicable way, it seems he really does love Tessa. He just doesn’t seem to know how and so he makes mistake after mistake. When they aren’t at each others throats, Hardin is the sweetest most loving and kindest boy. I do think that Tessa pushed his buttons and purposely tried to provoke him. Like hanging out with Zed, kissing a guy in front of Hardin at a party because she jumped to thinking the worst of him before hearing him out. So for that I found myself on Hardin’s side.

The book is up and down more than a rollercoaster and you can never relax because you never know what is coming. You read never knowing how its going to end. At times I did find Tessa annoying, Hardin was trying so hard and but she kept holding the past against him. SHE decided to forgive him so she should of stopped throwing it back in is face at every opportunity. If she was going to keep doing that maybe she should of not gone running back to him. She also kissed someone IN FRONT of Hardin… WTF WHY? It was unfair. I was outraged when she decided to forgive him, because if it was me I would of hung him from the nearest lamppost with the sheet. BUT, this is a love that cannot be ignored, they CAN NOT live life without each other, no matter what was thrown at them and no matter what they did to one another they have this connection that keeps pulling them back to one another. As a reader that type of love story is utterly gripping and it’s not perfect but it’s meant to be. Tessa and Hardin are meant to be, he is there to rock her world and she is there to right his.

Like Tessa and Hardin’s love, these books are addictive and compelling and I COULD NOT PUT THEM DOWN. I love how stormy their relationship is but I ADORE when things are right. It is impossible not to fall completely in love with Hardin, it makes all the shit he causes worth it. I really enjoyed that in this book we had points of view from both Hardin and Tessa, and it made me fall harder for him because we got into that head of his.

These books may be fanfiction derived from One Direction, but if I hadn’t known this I would never of guessed. Hardin may look like Harry but that’s where the similarities end. I am not a One Direction fan but I ABSOLUTEY LOVE THESE BOOKS. It is impossible not to get caught up in the drama and allow your heart to be stolen and broken and rebuilt time and time again.

After We Collide is fit to bursting with drama and a love story that will stain your face with more tears than you knew possible. Addictive, compelling, exciting and impossible to put down, there is no way you can put it down until you finish it. If anyone can find a way let me know, I had my nose in it for 2 days straight!!!
