2014 Book Reviews

Shopaholic to the Stars by Sophie Kinsella

‘Becky Brandon (nee Bloomwood) is in Hollywood! It’s as if all her life has been leading to this moment. She’s hanging out with the stars . or at least she will be, when she finally gets to meet movie superstar Sage Seymour, whom husband Luke is now managing.

There’s so much to see and do! And getting Minnie through the hurdles for her A-list Hollywood pre-school will require some.er.help.

Becky sets her heart on a new career – she’s going to be a celebrity stylist. Red carpet, here she comes! But Becky soon finds it’s tough in Tinseltown. Luckily her best friend Suze comes over to keep her company, and together they embark on the Hollywood insider trail. But somehow…things aren’t quite working out as they’d hoped.

Then Becky’s big chance comes, and it’s an opportunity that money can’t buy. But will it cost her too much?’

A absolutely HUGE thank you to Transworld, for sending me this book.

I am the biggest fan of Sophie Kinsella so when I was asked to review there was a lot of fangirl squealing and dancing! To me Sophie is the queen of chicklit.

It’s been 4 YEARS since we had Becky in our lives and she is back, bigger and better than ever.

In the latest of the series, Becky finds herself in Hollywood for husband Luke’s work. But that isn’t a problem for our Becky, oh no. Becky is imagining becoming best friends with Luke’s client, doing daily yoga classes and becoming a stylist to the stars. Becky plans to be the next big thing in the styling world… But this is our Becky and she finds herself in the limelight for the wrong reasons!

When Becky catches a HUGE star shoplifting, she agrees to keep it a secret. That is until she tells Sage, Luke’s client. She just wants to be friends, and this has Sage all over her desperate for more information and promising her the world. Did I mention that Sage and this star are the best of enemies? Well of course they are! Becky finds herself thrust into the limelight and as always she doesn’t think she just does. Something I completely love about Becky.

With Becky in Hollywood that didn’t stop our favourite characters making their way over to spend time with her. We have Suze and Tarkie, as well Becky’s dad. He wanted Becky to track down an old friend of his and when she does and reports back, he gets on a flight and turns up on her doorstep. Only he is behaving most odd…

We also see Becky’s mortal enemy…. Alicia bitch longlegs and we see Suze TAKE HER SIDE….. that’s all I’m saying!

Also can we just all take a moment to adore Luke…. oh man. Is there any man more perfect? He still loves Becky even though she can be a complete nightmare and constantly spends money on things she really doesn’t need. This time she is buying clothes for her clients… only she doesn’t have any yet!

Becky always has her heart in the right place, even if she doesn’t seem like it. She just wants her 15 minutes of fame and unwittingly puts her trust in the wrong people like always.

Shopaholic to the Stars will not let you down. Becky is back and back to her best!

Sophie never fails to make me absolutely belly laugh and repeatedly throughout her books, Shopaholic To The Stars is certainly no different. I absolutely loved being back in the world of Becky. As soon as it landed in my hands I dropped everything and didn’t come back to the real world until it was finished.

Shopaholic to the Stars is laugh out loud funny, fun and fabulous.

Sophie ends it with us completely I’m limbo and I CANNOT wait to see what Becky has next in store!
