Colleen Hoover’s New York Times bestselling Slammed series has brought countless readers to their knees with a whirlwind of love, passion, and heartache.
There are two sides to every love story. Now hear Will’s.
Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances, and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union.
As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas, and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.
In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.’
In This Girl we follow the gorgeous story of Will and Lake through Will’s eyes. But rather than the complete retelling of the previous two books that I was expecting, Colleen surprised me with the story being based on the newlyweds honeymoon, with Will telling Lake snippets of how he was feeling at different stages of their relationship.
There isn’t much I can say because by telling you parts of the story, I will only give away spoilers for the previous books, and if you haven’t read the previous books i don’t want to ruin it.
I enjoyed hearing about Will and Lake on their honeymoon, seeing how happy they were together. They are insanely loved up and so cute together it would melt even the hardest of hearts.
Hearing how Will was feeling at different times was so interesting and I enjoyed finding out about Lake’s mum more in this one. I also loved hearing how much he loved Lake, I mean it was always obvious but hearing it in his words was incredibly sweet.
Sadly I was left a little flat, I’m not sure why but I didn’t enjoy at much as I wanted to. Reading about the present Will and Lake was always enjoyable, whereas I did find going back over past events slightly tedious. I know that we hadn’t heard it from Will’s perspective but we had heard the stories he was already telling in the previous books. I felt like this book was more of a money maker than being written for the actual story. I loved the previous two books so I was so excited, but i feel that I would of been happy to stop with The Point Of Retreat.
But don’t let me put you off, you may love it. Also if you have read the other two, its certainly worth reading to get the snippets of Will and Lake on their honeymoon and being adorable.
