‘Sue Jackson has the perfect family but when her teenage daughter Charlotte deliberately steps in front of a bus and ends up in a coma she is forced to face a very dark reality.
Retracing her daughter’s steps she finds a horrifying entry in Charlotte’s diary and is forced to head deep into Charlotte’s private world. In her hunt for evidence, Sue begins to mistrust everyone close to her daughter and she’s forced to look further, into the depths of her own past.’
I’d firstly like to thank Alexandra at Avon for sending me The Accident. I really appreciate it.
I have no idea how to even form the words needed to describe just how fantastic this book is. It’s quite simply outstanding.
The Accident is all about Sue Jackson. Her lovely little family life is thrown into chaos when her teenage daughter, Charlotte, purposely walks in front of a bus. Which results in her being in a coma. Sue is the only one who believes this wasn’t an accident and the more she tries to prove this the more unhinged she starts to look.
You see, Sue read Charlotte’s diary, which is where Charlotte confessed to having a secret… A secret that was killing her. Sue is convinced that if she can find out Charlotte’s secret that Charlotte will feel safe enough to wake up from her coma.
Sue begins question charlotte’s friends, much to her husbands distress, and starts to discover she didn’t really know Charlotte at all…
Throughout the book we get glimpses into Sue’s past also (I won’t go into detail, you should read it, I don’t want to give it away!).
I LOVE books where it goes between present and past, it creates this excitement that builds and builds, leaving you anticipating for an explosive ending.
This was one of THOSE books where you are in danger of getting completely lost within the pages, only to emerge at three in the morning bleary eyed and desperate to wake someone just to talk about it.
The Accident was brilliantly paced, never letting you pause for breath. CL Taylor will terrify you and thrill you in equal measure.
Gripping, dark, intense and utterly compelling. A book that will consume you and have you holding your breath in fear of what’s to come.
I LOVED LOVED LOVED this book. Any praise I give it triple it and it still won’t be enough!
BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT! YOU MUST!
