‘Welcome to Willow Cottage – throw open the shutters, let in the sea breeze and make yourself completely at home. Oh, and please do leave a comment in the Guestbook.

As landlady of Willow Cottage, the young widow Annie Butterworth is always on hand with tea, sympathy or strong Norfolk cider – whatever her colourful array of guests require. A flick through the messages in the leather-bound cottage guestbook gives a tantalizing glimpse into the lives of everyone who passes through her doors.

This includes Annie herself – especially now celebrity crime writer Oliver Black, is back in town. He might grace the covers of gossip magazines with a different glamorous supermodel draped on his arm every week, but to Annie, he’s always just been Olly, the man who Annie shared her first kiss with.

Through the pages of the Guestbook Annie and Olly, along with all the guests that arrive at the seaside retreat, struggle with love, loss, mystery, joy, happiness, guilt…and the odd spot of naked rambling!

Forget sending postcards saying ‘wish you were here’ – one visit to Willow Cottage and you’ll wish you could stay forever.’

About the book:
The Guestbook is about Willow Cottage, a guest house run by Annie Butterworth.

Her best friend and brother in law is hot celebrity Oliver Black, they adore each other. But will do nothing about it because of Annie’s dead husband. It took Annie a long time to get over his death with Ollie helping every step of the way. Annie is clear about her feelings but Ollie is very keen to make it clear nothing will ever happen.

Meanwhile guests of Willow Cottage are leaving entries in the cottage’s Guestbook, we have a hen party and lots of inflatable willies, a young family, newlyweds and a lady who sleeps with her pets!

What I thought:
Let me start this by saying that Holly Martin IS. AN. ABSOLUTE. GENIUS!

What Holly has created here is outstanding. Instead of a book you expect you get something completely different. The Guestbook is exactly what is sounds like, a Guestbook in which people write their thoughts. Each entry is from a guest who has stayed at the cottage, with comments from Annie along the way too. It’s utterly superb!

With the things her guests are writing down, it may flitter into your mind, is this believable? would someone do this in a guestbook? I truly believe they absolutely would! That’s what makes it all so believable, it’s so much easier for people to write things down than speak face to face sometimes.

I was captivated by the relationship between Annie and Ollie, genuinely. They seemed so well matched yet they just couldn’t get together. One of my favourite bits is Annie trying to prove to Ollie she would be a good murderer….. That’s all I’m saying!

Something else I LOVED was how Holly played with your emotions perfectly, she has us laughing our heads off, going gooey and sentimental and has us frustrated at Ollie’s behaviour. BUT what she does to us at the end with that MASSIVE twist you NEVER see coming…. Well you will have to read it and find out.

Holly’s writing is magnetic and no matter how much you try to get on with normal life she will just pull you back in.

With this book she has created something fresh, new, exciting, fun, sweet and genuinely funny.

This is book is genuinely incredible and I think Holly has created something that readers will adore and authors will think “damn it why didn’t I think of that”.

Captivating, romantic, fun, laugh-out-loud funny, effortless, exciting and unputdownable!

EVERYONE SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK!

Now YOU can get involved too, here is our very own Guestbook online, take the time to visit and leave a comment, join in the fun and tell us what you thought of your experience. Meet new friends or be nosey and see what others have got up to before you!
