What The Ladybird Heard by Julia Donaldson

Julia Donaldson is the absolute genius that brought us The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child and Room On A Broom. She writes some of the best loved stories.

This one is about a little ladybird who lives on a farm with lots of animals and a fine prize cow. The ladybird never says a word, but one night overhears two thieves planning on stealing the fine prize cow.

She then goes and tells all the other animals the thieves plans and they decide to try and trick the two thieves.

The pictures are fantastic and a little ladybird is hidden within each page. It’s very easy for children to join in with the rhyming and repetitive words.

Also what mum or little girl doesn’t adore some glitter on a book?

Have you read this or any others of Julia Donaldson’s? Which? let me know!

  1. We have this too and I love it. The rhyming story is great and even really young children can join in and find the ladybird.

The Smartest Giant In Town is also a fab Julia Donaldson book.
