“Will you marry me?”
I think of you then. I think of you everyday. But usually in the quietest part of the morning, or the darkest part of the night. Not when my boyfriend of two years has just proposed. I look up at Richard with his hopeful eyes.
“Lily?” He prompts.
It’s been ten years, but it feels like only yesterday that you left. How can I say yes to Richard with all my heart when most of it has always belonged to you? I take a deep breath and will myself to speak.
Ten Years ago Lily’s mum, up and moves, with Lily, to Adelaide, Australia, for a man she met on the Internet. Lily, sixteen is not happy with the move. They move in with Michael and his son Josh.
Michael works at a conservation park, to which he invites animal lover lily, along to join him. This is where she meets Ben (swoon).
Lily instantly likes him, he treats her as an equal and doesn’t talk down to her. Lily spends all her time with Ben at the park, she can talk to him and be herself with him. Lily falls hard for Ben, she is almost certain that he likes her too. He is protective of her, teaches her to drive and spends all his spare time with her. But Ben is engaged and moving to England, Lily is devastated.
One day she over hears Ben talking with his best friend, and park vet, Dave, telling him that he likes Lily too. Dave is mad and tells him it’s wrong she is too young, she is a kid.
Ben is confused with his feelings defending himself by explaining that Lily seems and acts much older than she is. He leaves to marry his fiancé leaving Lily heartbroken over a love that never happened.
Ten years later Lily is living Sydney, Australia, and she is engaged to Richard. Yet she still thinks of Ben A LOT! (Anyone who has had a first teenage love will understand that it’s not easy forgotten) Richard is kind and caring and really loves Lily and she does him, she really does.
When she takes her younger sisters to a trip to the Zoo, who should she stumble across, but BEN!
All the feelings come flooding back and she is back ten years ago. They swap numbers and later meet. Lily feels terrible for Richard but ITS BEN.
Is this Ben and Lily’s chance at a happily ever after? Or will Lily marry Richard?
Either way someone’s heart is going to get broken.
This book is easily up there in my top 5.
I absolutely adore this book and have read it 4 times, since first reading it last year.
Pictures Of Lily is so beautifully written and easy to read. It’s impossible to put down. You will be dying to know who she will choose, which will keep you turning the pages faster and faster. Paige manages to grab you with the pure romance and charm of her writing. And will leave you with a gaping hole when you finish. But don’t worry she has many more books that are page turners just the same.
What are you waiting for? GO! Go grab a copy and be prepared to give yourself over to a really heart warming, toe tingling love story. But hands off of Ben his mine 😉
Also can we just take a moment to appreciate the glittery cover……
